U.S. Air Force pararescuemen assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, maneuver across steep, rocky terrain during mountain search and rescue training as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 in Iceland, Aug. 31, 2026. Pararescuemen trained alongside Icelandic Coast Guard Super Puma crew to refine rescue procedures in terrain that presents unique challenges to personnel and aircraft. Northern Viking 26 familiarizes participating forces with High North operating conditions while strengthening the trust, readiness and interoperability required to respond together during real-world contingencies.
