A group of military personnel in camouflage uniforms are gathered outdoors, holding the American flag and what appears to be a unit guidon or regimental flag. One soldier is wearing a 'Never Forget' commemorative t-shirt over their uniform, referencing the September 11 attacks with imagery of the Twin Towers and the date. The setting appears to be a memorial or commemorative ruck march event, likely held at a military installation or training area.

Colorado Army National Guard Col. Ronald Bryant, commander of 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion), assigned to Kosovo Force (KFOR) Regional Command-East, reaches the halfway point during an Extortion 17 memorial ruck march hosted by Task Force Aviation at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, Aug. 9, 2026. Task Force Aviation hosted the march in remembrance of the 38 people killed when Extortion 17, a U.S. Army CH-47D Chinook helicopter, was shot down in Afghanistan Aug. 6, 2011. Among those killed was Colorado Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer 5 David Carter, a CH-47 pilot and friend and mentor to members of the battalion. The march brought U.S. and multinational service members together to honor the fallen while strengthening solidarity, resilience and unit cohesion. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Seth LaCount)
