    Operation Ardent Vanguard   

    U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Thomas Robertson, with the 744th Engineer Company, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, operates a modified Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS) from inside a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) during monitoring operations in Del Rio, Texas, Aug. 23, 2026. The unarmed CROWS configuration uses cameras and advanced electronic sensors and provides Soldiers with an elevated, remote monitoring capability. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
