U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Thomas Robertson, with the 744th Engineer Company, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, provides security outside a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) while a modified Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS) conducts monitoring operations in Del Rio, Texas, Aug. 23, 2026. The unarmed CROWS configuration uses cameras and advanced electronic sensors to provide Soldiers with an elevated, remote monitoring capability while Robertson maintains security around the vehicle. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
