The Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) makes its way through the Point Mugu Sea Range off the coast of Port Hueneme, California, on June 10. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division operates the SDTS, formerly USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964), to test naval weapons and combat systems. While the last remaining Spruance-class destroyer is now more than 50 years old, it recently received a fresh coat of paint and underwent extensive maintenance and modernization to extend its service life.
