YOKOSUKA, Japan (July 11, 2026) - Capt. Jon Hopkins, commander, fleet activities yokosuka (CFAY), exchanges greetings with Katsuaki Kamiji, mayor of the city of Yokosuka, before a memorial ceremony in Perry Park. The ceremony commemorated the 173rd anniversary of Commodore Matthew C. Perry’s landing in Kurihama, a neighborhood in the city of Yokosuka, reinforcing the strong partnership between the naval installation and its host city. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
