YOKOSUKA, Japan (July 11, 2026) - Shoichiro Matsuki, mayor of Shimoda City shows Capt. Jon Hopkins, commander, fleet activities yokosuka (CFAY), a “Blackship Festival” T-shirt during the Perry landing memorial ceremony in Perry Park. The annual event honors the 173rd anniversary of Commodore Matthew C. Perry's arrival in Kurihama and highlights the deep historical ties between regional municipalities and naval leadership. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
