YOKOSUKA, Japan (July 11, 2026) – Capt. Jon Hopkins, commander, fleet activities yokosuka (CFAY) and Leana Lopez, acting political-military affairs counselor, pose with Katsuaki Kamiji, mayor of Yokosuka City, during the landing memorial ceremony in Perry Park. The ceremony commemorated the 173rd anniversary of Commodore Matthew C. Perry’s landing in Kurihama, highlighting the continued collaboration and diplomatic coordination between regional U.S. officials and local Japanese leadership. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
