An RQ-28A Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) unmanned aircraft system flies during operator training at Volunteer Training Site-Tullahoma, June 16, 2026. The aircraft provides Soldiers with a rapidly deployable reconnaissance capability, enabling operators to collect real-time imagery, conduct surveillance and improve situational awareness beyond their line of sight. Soldiers assigned to 3rd Battalion, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Tennessee Army National Guard, received hands-on instruction on mission planning, system operation and flight procedures as part of the regiment’s ongoing modernization efforts supporting the transformation to a Mobile Brigade Combat Team.
