Howard Hewitt, outgoing command sergeant major for the 101st Information Operations Battalion, 71st Theater Operations Group, present Mrs. Jessica Marie Hewitt with a commission as a Yellow Rose of Texas on behalf of Gov. Greg Abbott during a retirement ceremony held March 1, 2026, at the Audie Murphy Building on Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. The Yellow Rose of Texas is an honorary commission bestowed by the Governor of Texas to recognize women for their exceptional community service and dedicated support to the Lone Star State. This honor follows Hewitt’s 26 years of service to the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Army, a journey supported by his wife through multiple deployments and assignments worldwide.
