Greg Abbott during a retirement ceremony held March 1, 2026, at the Audie Murphy Building on Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. The Yellow Rose of Texas is an honorary commission bestowed by the Governor of Texas to recognize women for their exceptional community service and dedicated support to the Lone Star State. This honor follows Hewitt’s 26 years of service to the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Army, a journey supported by his wife through multiple deployments and assignments worldwide.
