250916-N-PS838-1223 NORFOLK, Va. Senior Chief Petty Officer Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Fuel Ray Holland IV, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), presents a gift to guest speaker Master Chief Petty Officer Sonar Technician Surface (Ret.) Paul Abney during a chief pinning ceremony at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, Sept. 16. Abney gave a speech to the newly promoted chiefs and their families and described his experience serving on the USS Cole (DDG 67). Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled repairs in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard.
