250916-N-PS838-1199 NORFOLK, Va. (Sept 16, 2025) Master Chief Petty Officer Sonar Technician Surface (Ret.) Paul Abney gives a speech during a chief pinning ceremony for the USS Bataan (LHD 5) at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, Sept. 16. The new chiefs belong to the 132nd class of the chief petty officer association. Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled repairs in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard.
