    NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 5, 2025) — Rear Adm. Richard Brophy Jr., incoming commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), renders a salute to Adm. James W. Kilby, Vice Chief of Naval Operations, during a change-of-command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Brophy assumed command from Rear Adm. Douglas S. Verissimo, becoming AIRLANT’s 36th commander. AIRLANT mans, trains and equips six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircraft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel on the East Coast.
