    250905-N-SW048-1112 NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 5, 2025) Rear Adm. Douglas Verissimo, the outgoing commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), renders a salute to Adm. James Kilby, Vice Chief of Naval Operations, as he transfers all duties and responsibilities as commander to Rear Adm. Richard Brophy Jr. during the change of command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircarft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Verissimo was relieved by Brophy as the 36th commander. AIRLANT is responsible for the manning, training and equipping of six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircarft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilain personnel on the east coast.
