NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Rear Adm. Richard T. Brophy Jr., incoming commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), is piped by sideboys during a change of command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Rear Adm. Douglas S. Verissimo was relieved by Brophy as AIRLANT’s 36th commander. AIRLANT mans, trains and equips six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircraft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel on the East Coast.
