NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 5, 2025) — Rear Adm. Douglas S. Verissimo, outgoing commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), renders a salute as he relinquishes command to Rear Adm. Richard Brophy Jr. during a change of command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Verissimo was relieved by Brophy as AIRLANT’s 36th commander. AIRLANT mans, trains and equips six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircraft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft, and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel on the East Coast.
