NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Rear Adm. Douglas S. Verissimo, outgoing commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), is piped ashore during a change-of-command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Verissimo was relieved by Rear Adm. Richard T. Brophy Jr. as AIRLANT’s 36th commander. AIRLANT mans, trains and equips six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircraft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft, and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel on the East Coast.
