A U.S. Air Force security forces airman with the Air National Guard conducts a night training raid on an objective as part of exercise Sage Eagle 25-4 at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, September 1, 2025. The raid, conducted with guidance from Army Green Berets assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), tested their ability to counter opposing forces, establish site security, and respond to medical injects.

Exercise Sage Eagle is a recurring, battalion-sized, unconventional warfare exercise that validates Special Forces’ ability to train and incorporate partner forces in unfamiliar environments. Sage Eagle’s stressful, realistic training prepares Air National Guard defenders for rapidly securing contingency locations while shifting their mindset towards the operational demands of complex evolving environments.
