U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jason Tartaglia, 166th Airlift Wing security forces personnel with the Delaware Air National Guard, conducts a practice raid with guidance from a 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) soldier during exercise Sage Eagle 25-4 at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, August 24, 2025. As the squad leader, Tartaglia was responsible for the success of the other airmen on his team.

Exercise Sage Eagle is a recurring, battalion-sized, unconventional warfare exercise that validates Special Forces’ ability to train and incorporate partner forces in unfamiliar environments. Sage Eagle’s stressful, realistic training prepares Air National Guard defenders for rapidly securing contingency locations while shifting their mindset towards the operational demands of complex evolving environments.
