U.S. Marines with Marine Security Guard Detachment, U.S. Embassy Riga, open the Independence Day celebration with the presentation of the United States flag at the U.S. Embassy in Riga, Latvia, on July 2, 2025. The 1st Armored Division’s Brass Band forward deployed in support of Task Force Iron, provided ceremonial music for the opening of the event and then performed for guests during the celebration. The event was attended by NATO partners as well as the U.S. Embassy’s staff. Task Force Iron’s mission is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, increasing lethality while strengthening partnerships with NATO allies and regional security partners.
