A US Air Force general officer, identifiable by four-star rank insignia on his shoulder, is engaged in a handshake or greeting with an elderly civilian man wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a red-and-blue lei. The setting appears to be an outdoor military ceremony, likely in Hawaii based on the tropical vegetation and Hawaiian attire. Additional uniformed Air Force personnel are visible in the background.

Airmen, their families and veterans gathered at Atterbury Circle, the site of the same flagpole that stood Dec. 7, 1941. The ceremony was held to honor the survivors of the attacks and remember the 238 Army Air Corps airmen who died defending Hickam Field.
