Gen Janeen Birckhead, center, talk with Sead Pasic, the director of “American Corners,” an informational center at the library in Zanica, Bosnia, geared toward high school and college students, Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Vogel and Birckhead spoke at an American Corners event that focused on the 15-year partnership between the Maryland Guard and the Bosnian and Herzegovina armed forces as part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s State Partnership Program. The SPP pairs up National Guard elements with partner nations worldwide. During the event the two shared their personal experiences in the U.S. military as well as the ongoing relationship between the Maryland Guard and Bosnia.
