180122-N-XK809-004 SASEBO, Japan (Jan. 22, 2018) Mike Rapp, a member of the TYCOM Material Inspection Team, inspects fittings on HALON bottles aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) as part of a Naval Surface Forces-led two-day Readiness for Sea Assessment. The assessment assesses crew proficiency in propulsion, navigation and watches team proficiency, and certifies a ship as deployment ready. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
