170805-N-ME988-0290 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Aug. 5, 2017) Marine Brig. Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander, Task Force 51 and 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, receives a patch from Sailors assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 on a landing craft, air cushion in the well deck aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50). Donovan spent the afternoon touring the ship and meeting with the crew. Carter Hall, part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
