Staff Sgt. Douglas Norman (front) and Sgt. 1st Class Jason Alexander carry a litter toward a Huey helicopter during the nine-line medical evacuation portion of the battle drills test Oct. 5, 2006. The test also included performance in the laws of war, handling of prisoners, foot marches, stabilizing casualties, establishing communications, assembling and disassembling weapons and detecting IEDs. Alexander and Norman are part of 20 NCOs and Soldiers competing at the fifth annual NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Oct. 2-6, 2006, at Fort Lee, Va.
