Staff Sgt. Jeremy Samsel, representing the National Capital Region, patches his feet up during a break in the competition Oct. 5, 2006. Samsel, a military policeman with the West Point Military Police Company at U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is part of 20 NCOs and Soldiers competing at the fifth annual NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Oct. 2-6, 2006, at Fort Lee, Va. The Soldiers have marched and run more than 15 miles the past 2 days. Samsel is native to Warsaw, N.Y.
