Staff Sgt. Jeremy Samsel, representing the National Capital Region, disassembles and assembles the .50-caliber weapons in a seven-minute time period during the battle drills test Oct. 5, 2006. The test also included performance in the laws of war, handling of prisoners, foot marches, stabilizing and evacuating casualties, establishing communications and detecting IEDs. Samsel, a military policeman with the West Point Military Police Company at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., is one of 20 NCOs and Soldiers competing at the fifth annual NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Oct. 2-6, 2006, at Fort Lee, Va. Samsel is native to Warsaw, N.Y.
