United States Marine Corps Sergeant Aaron Johnson, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, India Company, throws a smoke grenade to hide his squad from simulated enemies in Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms, Calif. Oct 29, 2016. Marines of 3/5 are currently field testing equipment and technology from the Marine Corps War Fighting Lab during Integrated Training Exercise 1-17 in order to enhance and sustain combined arms proficiency in preparation for their deployment as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
