TINIAN, Northern Mariana Islands (Sept. 15, 2016) U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Johnathan Akers with Marine Air Control Group 18, helps a student with CPR during Valiant Shield 16 at Northern Marianas College, Tinian. The course consisted of a classroom discussion and practical applications that helped better prepare local residents to respond to a natural disaster or a basic trauma event. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps exercise held in Guam, focusing on real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces at sea, in the air, on land and in cyberspace.
