160904-N-BB269-574 OKINAWA, Japan (Sept. 4, 2016) Sailors assigned to the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) and Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit perform a security search on simulated casualties during a non-combatant evacuation operation (NEO) exercise. NEO is an ordered evacuation of civilian and nonessential military personnel from danger in overseas countries to a designated safe area or zone. Germantown, attached to Expeditionary Strike Group 7, is underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operation in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
