    OKINAWA, Japan (Sep. 4, 2016) The Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) is anchored off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, during a non-combatant evacuation operation (NEO) exercise. NEO is an ordered evacuation of civilian and nonessential military personnel from danger in overseas countries to a designated safe area or zone. Germantown, attached to Expeditionary Strike Group 7, is underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operation in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
