MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif (July 26, 2016) Cmdr. Victor Diaz, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton’s Anesthesiology Department Head, instructs students participating in NHCP’s Science, Service, Medicine and Mentoring program, on how to use different instruments to administer anesthesia, July 26, 2016. While participating in the week-long S2M2 program the 12 rising juniors and seniors from Oceanside and El Camino High School in Oceanside, Calif., will experience informative lectures from NHCP staff; interactive hands-on training and activities; a disability exercise during which the students spend 24 hours without the use of their dominant arm; one-on-one shadowing rotations with clinical staff in areas such as primary care, medical and surgical subspecialties, pharmacy, nursing, and biomedical repair; as well as an introduction to Navy fitness.
