PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 1, 2016) From left to right, Rear Adm. Marcus A. Hitchcock, commander, John C. Stennis Strike Group; Capt. Rob Chadwick, commodore, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 21 and Capt. Henry Adams, deputy commander, DESRON 21, bow their heads as Cmdr. Carey Cash, the command chaplain for USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), delivers the invocation during a change of command ceremony for DESRON 21 held in John C. Stennis' forecastle while the ship is operating off the coast of Hawaii, Aug. 1. During the ceremony, Adams relieved Chadwick to become the 55th DESRON 21 Commodore. DESRON 21 oversees the operations of eight Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and is currently embarked with the John C. Stennis Strike Group. Providing a combat-ready force to protect collective maritime interests, John C. Stennis is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment.
