Two recruits of Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, prepare to battle each other during the Pugil Sticks I event at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 10. Recruits are paired up against another recruit who is similar in height and weight so there aren’t any advantages during the match. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate April 22.
