A recruit of Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, conducts a horizontal strike during the Bayonet Assault Course I event at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 10. Drill instructors directed the recruits through the course to ensure they were getting the most out of the event. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate April 22.
