Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve

An M58 Mine Clearing Line Charge (MCLC), fired by Iraqi soldiers with the 72nd Iraqi Army Brigade, explodes during a combined arms breach training exercise at Besmaya Range Complex, Iraq, Jan. 24, 2016 MCLCs are long lines of explosive material that are usually fired into a minefield and detonated to clear a path for troops and vehicles to move through. By incorporating this into the training scenario, the brigade validates its ability to incorporate the technique as they move through and clear areas retaken from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. This training is part of the overall Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve building partner capacity mission to increase the military capacity of Iraqi Security Forces fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
