Cpl. Thomas Olson, a heavy equipment operator with the 91st Engineer Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, discusses the location of fighting positions with a Norwegian soldier during a joint live fire exercise at Adazi Training Area, Latvia, on Nov. 13, 2014. The exercise featured U.S. engineer assets preparing fighting positions for Norwegian armor and infantry. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
