Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) is a regularly scheduled multinational exercise that focuses on the integration of aviation and ground assets within the construct of a traditional Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise and is designed to enhance the combat readiness of the U.S and Korean troops. KMEP also familiarizes U.S. Marines with the Korean Peninsula and builds upon an existing strong relationship between Republic of Korea and U.S. Marines. All ROK-U.S. alliance exercises are defensive in nature and are not connected to any current events.
U.S. Marines from 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment (2/23), forward deployed with 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program, joined their active-duty counterparts and Republic of Korea Marine Corps forces for the Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 25.2 to enhance interoperability and warfighting capabilities between nations through training and tactical exercises.
