JIATF 401 is the War Department’s lead organization to counter sUAS. JIATF 401 synchronizes C-sUAS efforts across the DoW, rapidly delivering joint capabilities at scale to defend the homeland, protect US and allied forces, defend critical infrastructure, and assist federal agencies. The task force has a global focus and is a multifaceted organization leading DoW C-sUAS activities at the nexus of OSW, the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and the Services. JIATF 401 is innovative, scalable, and threat adaptive. It has one measure of effectiveness: quickly deliver state of the art C-sUAS capabilities to the warfighter at home and abroad.
Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401) recently evaluated the effectiveness of the Sky Valor system against small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) during a visit to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. This demonstration was conducted in close coordination with Joint Task Force-Southern Border and Customs and Border Protection.
Airmen from the 90th Missile Wing joined personnel from Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Command, U.S. Strategic Command and the Air National Guard for a counter-small unmanned aircraft systems firing qualification conducted in partnership with Joint Interagency Task Force 401 at Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, Wyoming, May 14-15, 2026.
