Exercise Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral amphibious training event between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force designed to improve our ability to coordinate and conduct combined amphibious operations at the battalion, company and platoon levels. Iron Fist 2023 provides both the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps opportunities to train together on amphibious core competencies, for the first time in training areas around Japan and at sea.
