One door closes, another opens at 179thWhen Tyrell Shaw graduated from Mansfield High School in 2009, he didn’t have any intentions of joining the military. Shaw knew he wanted to make a difference and serve his community where his great grandmother, Gwendolyn Buck, had raised him to work hard and help others. He reached out by becoming an intern in the North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC), a program that focuses on improving his community. This is where he first heard the term “Air Guard” and met someone who would make a profound impact on his life.
