Cpl. Jesse Mendoza, radio operator with 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, received the Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter award for the 26th MEU at the Navy League Luncheon in New Orleans, April 20, 2012. The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit is currently providing support to the commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans. Starting through April and continuing through 2015, the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard will commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the Star Spangled Banner. The War of 1812 celebration with commemorate the rich Naval history and showcase the capabilities of today's Navy-Marine Corps team.
