Commemoration of 1812

Lt. Gen. Steven A. Hummer, commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North, and his wife, Sheri, present a gift, a Marine Corps glass, to French Cmdr. SŽbastien Chatelain, commander of French frigate Germinal, before attending French navy reception in honor of the War of 1812 Commemoration, April 18, 2012. New Orleans will serve as the inaugural city in a three-year national celebration commemorating the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner. The Marine Corps' role in this event reinforces its naval character, showcases the Navy-Marine Corps team and highlights the military's enduring relationship with the city of New Orleans.
