Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Weems sprayed herbicide on a Chinese Tallow tree April 18, in New Orleans' City Park. Wasp is in New Orleans April 17-23 celebrating Navy Week. Approximately 3,000 sailors and Marines, nine ships from the United States, France, Canada, Great Britain, Ecuador, and Indonesia, and about three dozen aircraft will be present for the event. The commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 is a salute to all sailors and Marines who fought gallantly in that conflict, who have served in out nations' conflicts since then, and who are defending freedom around the world today.
