The 19th Special Operations Squadron, 492nd Special Operations Wing, home to Air Force Special Operations Command's formal training of the AC-130 Gunship, commemorates and honors the achievements of the formal training unit and its history Oct. 17, 2025. Prior members of the 19th SOS and Gunship community share their stories of the training unit's growth through the years. The initial, formal training of the AC-130 Gunship will transition from Hurlburt Field, Florida, to Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, while active units will continue to train and operate at Hurlburt Field.

Clint Grizzell, 492d Special Operations Wing command chief, presented a professional development seminar, themed, “Bias for Action,” was presented to members of the 6 Special Operations Squadron, Sept. 25, 2020, at the beginning of the squadron’s roll call in the squadron auditorium on Duke Field.

This idea is what fueled four members of the 492d Special Operations Support Squadron, during a recent, off-duty volunteer event at the Air Commando Association headquarters building in Navarre, FL on July 21st.
