To support the Department of War’s growing emphasis on the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), the Air Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA-209) Avionics Architecture Team designed targeted training to resolve a gap in MOSA expertise.
MOSA is a strategic design approach that uses standardized, open interfaces to allow new components to be upgraded, replaced or integrated without redesigning an entire platform.
In 2025, the team delivered hands-on training for software and hardware engineers on open standards, interface design and integration concepts. The sessions improved the ability of program managers, engineers and integrators to design systems that can be integrated more rapidly and align with DoW acquisition transformation goals.
The training also fostered collaboration with other systems command and military services, helping speed delivery of cutting-edge technologies to frontline units.
