A U.S. Army soldier in full multicam combat uniform is crouched or seated near a camouflage-netted position in a wooded area. The soldier is wearing a tactical helmet with a mounted device, protective eyewear, and blue medical gloves, suggesting participation in a medical or combat training exercise. A 'Dark Knight Competition' patch is visible on the right shoulder, indicating this is likely a military skills competition event.

U.S. Army Spc. James Wyman, a combat medic assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, applies pressure to the back of a simulated casualty during the medical lanes portion of the Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 9, 2026. The medical lanes tested each team’s ability to move, assess and treat a simulated casualty through obstacles while responding to changing conditions and coordinating a medevac. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans.
