    A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force member with Air Rescue Squadron 71 (ARS-71), Fleet Air Wing 31, operates a radio during Rescue Flag 26-1, at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Aug. 26, 2026. Rescue Flag 26-1 gave U.S. Marines with Marine Aircraft Group 12 and Marine Aircraft Group 36 the opportunity to work with U.S. Airmen and JMSDF personnel on coordinated rescue operations to simulate realistic scenarios of pilot recovery from a downed aircraft.
