Ken Alagan, a machinist at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF), uses compressed air to clean and troubleshoot a machine in the inside machine shop in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Aug. 10, 2026.
Alagan's work was highlighted during a tour for U.S. Pacific Fleet Total Force Management leaders, designed to showcase the shipyard's capabilities and emphasize how their support in workforce hiring is vital to sustaining combat-ready naval forces.
PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight” by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Camey Streff)
